Ranges are typical Utah jobs, not quotes. Your flat price is confirmed on the phone before any work starts.

What legitimately changes the price

Door weight and size. An insulated double door needs a heavier spring than a single uninsulated one, and heavier springs cost more. This is the biggest single factor.

Access and headroom. Low-headroom installs, high-lift track and doors in tight commercial bays take longer and need different hardware.

Time of day. After-hours dispatch carries a flat add-on. It should be quoted before a truck is sent, never added to the invoice afterwards.

What else failed alongside it. A spring that lets go often takes the cables and sometimes the opener gear with it. A good technician shows you the failed parts.

What should not change the price

The quote you agreed on the phone. If you described the symptom accurately and nothing unexpected is found, the number shouldn't move.

Watch for three patterns: a very low phone price that inflates on arrival, a diagnostic fee that isn't credited against the repair, and a hard push toward full door replacement for a fault that is plainly a spring or a cable. Any of the three is your cue to get a second quote.

Repair or replace?

A rough rule: if the repair costs more than half a new door and the door is over fifteen years old, replacement is usually the better five-year decision. If the sections are straight and the model is current, repair almost always wins.

Cracked or rusting sections, three repairs in two years, or a door original to a pre-2000 house all point toward replacement. A single failed spring on an otherwise sound door does not.

Questions on this

Do you charge a call-out fee?

The repair is quoted as a flat price that includes getting there. After-hours dispatch is a separate flat add-on quoted on the call.

Why is spring replacement not a fixed price?

Because spring cost tracks door weight. A heavy insulated double door takes a different spring from a single uninsulated one.

Is it cheaper to replace both springs at once?

Per spring, yes — you pay one trip and one labour charge instead of two.
