New garage door installation cost in Utah

Single, double, insulated, carriage house and full-view — what each actually costs fitted.

What a new door costs installed

A single-car steel door installed in Utah starts around $950. An insulated double door typically lands between $1,850 and $3,400. Carriage house styles and full-view aluminium with glass run higher, commonly $3,000 to $6,500 depending on glazing.

Those figures include the door, new track, a spring system sized to the door's actual weight, hardware, fitting and haul-away of the old door.

Insulation is the decision that matters most in Utah

The garage door is the largest opening in most houses. If your garage is attached, shares a wall with a living space, or has a room above it, insulation changes how the adjoining rooms feel in January.

R-value is the number to compare. An uninsulated steel door is effectively R-0 to R-2. A decent polystyrene-core door runs R-6 to R-9. Polyurethane-injected doors reach R-12 to R-18 and are also noticeably more rigid and quieter.

For a detached garage you never heat, insulation is largely wasted money. For an attached garage in a Utah winter, it's the upgrade people say they'd repeat.

What adds to the quote

Windows and glass, decorative hardware, a heavier door needing a stronger opener, non-standard openings requiring custom sizing, low-headroom or high-lift track conversions, and removal of a door that was installed badly enough to have damaged the framing.

Can you keep the existing opener?

Often, yes. If the opener is under about twelve years old and rated for the new door's weight, re-using it is sensible. Insulated doors are heavier than what they replace, so the rating should be checked before install rather than discovered afterwards.

If the opener is marginal, adding a new belt-drive unit at install time is cheaper than a separate visit later.

How long it takes

A single door is typically three to four hours. A double, or any install needing new track and a re-sized spring system, usually runs most of a working day. Two doors on the same property are usually done in one visit.

Questions on this

Do you remove the old door?

Yes, removal and disposal are included.

Can you match a second door to my existing one?

If the model is still made, usually. If it's discontinued we'll show you the closest current profile so you can judge the match.

How long does a new garage door last?

A steel door typically gives 20 to 30 years. The hardware wears out long before the sections do.
